MembershipAs a member of a credit union, you're a part of a unique financial cooperative - a group of people with common interests who have joined together to help one another in money matters. By pooling their savings, our members create a source of funds for loans, which are made available to members only at reasonable rates of interest. The interest from these loans allows the credit union to pay dividends on your savings and to fund credit union operations. Since credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions, profits are returned to the you in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and other services which are free or very affordable. As a credit union member, you are also an owner. The volunteers you elect to serve on our Board of Directors, with needs and goals that are similar to yours, determine the policies and direction of the credit union.

Who Can Join
To become a member, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
  • Live, work, worship, volunteer, attend school, or belong to an organization that operates in Charleston county
  • Be an immediate family or household member of a current member of the credit union
  • Be a spouse of a deceased member of the credit union

Immediate family is defined as spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild (including step and adoptive relations). A household is defined as persons living in the same residence maintaining a single economic unit.

How to Join
Joining is easy. All you need to do is:
  • Bring a valid, current, government issued identification (driver's license or other picture ID) and your social security number
  • Pay a one time non-refundable membership fee of $5
  • Open a savings account, with a $25 minimum deposit

Your $25 deposit purchases your share of the credit union. This is what makes you a member and owner. Once you have opened your savings (share) account, you are eligible for all the benefits and services we provide. The only stipulation is that you maintain your $25 share in your savings account.
